Roblox Dev Makes $2M in 3 Months Selling Virtual Socks—Then Gets Banned

so theres this 19 year old kid who made literally 2 million dollars in like 3 months just selling virtual socks on roblox and then roblox BANNED him lmao

basically this dude (his username was SockEmperor or smth) figured out that ppl were obsessed with drip in roblox. like everyone wants teh rarest fits right? so he made these limited edition virtual socks that had like sparkles and stuff and made them super rare. only 100 pairs of each design. and kids went INSANE for them

he was selling them for like 5000 robux each which is around $50 real money and they sold out in literal seconds every time he dropped a new pair. some resellers were flipping them for 50000 robux ($500) on the black market. absolutely goated business model tbh

the crazy part is he wasnt even a good developer. he just hired some random guy on fiverr to make the sock models and then he marketed them on tiktok and discord. he had this whole fake scarcity thing going where hed tweet 'only 3 pairs left' and kids would panic buy. classic artificial hype

but then roblox found out he was using bots to manipulate the marketplace and make his socks show up at teh top of search results. they banned his account and took all his robux which was worth like 2.3 million dollars. he tried to appeal but roblox was like nah ur done

now hes on twitter complaining about how roblox is anti creator and how they stole his money. but like dude u were literally scamming 12 year olds with fake scarcity and bots so idk what u expected?? play stupid games win stupid prizes fr

the funniest part is other developers are now copying his strategy but trying to not get caught. theres already like 50 copycat sock brands on roblox. the whole platform is just a giant casino for kids at this point

roblox said theyre cracking down on market manipulation but everyone knows theyre not gonna do anything bc they make too much money from these transactions. they take a 30% cut of everything so they literally profited like $600k from this kids scam lol

anyway moral of the story is u can get rich quick on the internet but eventually someone will pull the rug. also virtual socks are apparently worth more than real socks which is insane when u think about it. we live in a simulation fr fr
