Snapchat is going all-in for the FIFA World Cup 2026, rolling out a comprehensive strategy that blends in-app digital experiences with significant on-the-ground activations. The platform is clearly aiming to capture fan engagement throughout the tournament, leveraging its core strengths in AR and community.

Central to Snapchat's digital push are new Bitmoji options, allowing users to outfit their avatars in national team colors. This initiative includes partnerships with U.S. Soccer, Adidas, and Nike for expanded gear. Beyond personal avatars, Snapchat has introduced official team and organic country AR Lenses for over 20 national teams, alongside various World Cup-related promotions and effects. For real-time discussion, a dedicated World Cup Topic Chat has also been launched.

Creator and athlete integration forms another key pillar of Snapchat's strategy. The platform is sending creator Alix Earle and NBA player Jared McCain to the World Cup to provide exclusive insights directly from the event. Additionally, Snapchat has partnered with prominent footballers João Félix (Portugal), Sergiño Dest (U.S.), and Erling Haaland (Norway). These partnerships are designed to offer direct event insights, fostering what Snapchat describes as "more authentic, personal ways" for players to connect with their fanbases.

On the physical front, Snapchat is establishing a significant presence in two major U.S. host cities. In Los Angeles, Snapchat will take over the U.S. Soccer House with immersive experiences "throughout the tournament," aiming to connect fans, creators, and partners. Meanwhile, New York City is hosting two key activations. As of June 14, 2026, Snapchat is already activating at the FIFA Fan Festival at USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center, which runs from June 11–27. Later in the summer, from July 6–19, Snapchat will also activate at the official NYNJ World Cup 26 & Telemundo Fan Village at Rockefeller Center, in partnership with the NYNJ World Cup 2026 Host Committee. These in-person venues will feature Snapchat Cam, AR experiences, and creator-led moments, described by Snapchat as "spaces for communities to celebrate the tournament together."

With this multi-faceted approach, Snapchat is making a clear play for a significant slice of the World Cup's global audience, blending digital interaction with real-world fan engagement.
